The Philadelphia Phillies woke up at the right time against the Houston Astros as the Phillies scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the Astros 4-3.  A three run home run by Pat Burrell and then an RBI double by Pedro Feliz won the game for the Phillies.

The Phillies were more less dead the entire game up until Jose Valverde came in to the game and the Phillies some how woke up.  Chris Snelling hit a leadoff homer and Chase Utley was hit by a pitch. Ryan Howard then struck out, and Burrell tied the score at 3 with a two-run homer to right.

After the Burrel home run, Geoff Jenkins struck out but made it to first base after the ball got away from Brad Ausmus.  That is when Feliz roped a double to the left field corner that scored Jenkins from first base.

Rudy Seanez picked up the win for the Phillies.  Starting pitcher Adam Eaton had pitched seven innings and allowed three earned runs and seven hits.

The Philadelphia Phillies fell behind early as they gave up six runs in the 3rd inning to the New York Mets and then went onto lose the game 8-2.  Once the Phillies got down 7-1, it was pretty easy to tell that they were going to lose the game.

Kyle Kendrick was the starting pitcher for the Phillies that got rocked.  Kendrick only pitched 2.1 innings as he gave up seven runs and four hits.  Only one of the runs was earned however so it doesn’t sounds as bad as it looks.  The Phillies had four errors on the game, and that really hurt the pitchers.

Chad Durbin, Clay Condrey, and Rudy Seanez all seen action in relief.  Condrey was the only relief pitcher to allow a run to score.  Bullpen pitched good, it was just Kendrick and the errors that were bad.

Yeah the pitching and defense sucked, but so did the offense.  You aren’t going to win very many games when you can only score two runs.  Carlos Ruiz and Chase Utley both accounted for an RBI each for the Phillies.
