The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Cincinnati Reds by the score of 5-0 on Thursday afternoon as they beat the Reds three out of four games in their series.  Good series for the Phillies as they did exactly what they were hoping to.  Any time you can get a series win, you did a good job.

Cole Hamels pitched all nine innings for the Phillies and only allowed three hits.  Hamels struck out four batters and walked three while improving his record to 6-4 on the season.  Great outing for Hamels as it saved the Phillies from having to use the bullpen.  Anytime you can get your bullpen some rest that is a good thing.

Geoff Jenkins went deep for a solo home run in the sixth inning for the one long ball for the Phils.  Shane Victorino had a rbi single in the fith inning and then Ryan Howard had a rbi single in the seventh inning.  The Phillies also scored two unearned runs in the game.

The Phillies now have a big weekend series with the Atlanta Braves.  The Braves and the Phillies also play good games so it should be an exciting weekend of baseball.

The Philadelphia Phillies bats were silent on Wednesday night as the Phillies were shutout by the Cincinnati Reds 2-0.  The game almost got blown wide open in the ninth inning as the Reds had the bases loaded but only came away with one run.

Brett Myers didn’t allow a hit until the seventh inning as he tossed 7 1/3 innings to take the loss for the Phillies.  Myers gave up a rbi double to Joey Votto in the seventh inning and then was pulled from the game.  Myers deserved a lot better decision then what he got, the offense just wan’t there tonight against the Reds.

J.C. Romero pitched after Myers left the game and got into a jam as he was charged with one run scoring.  Ryan Madson was then called upon to get the last two outs in the top of the ninth inning and that is exactly what he did.

The Phillies were stopped at the plate all night long.  They only had two hits in the game.  Ryan Howard and Geoff Jenkins had one hit each for the Phillies.  You need to have better production than that if you expect to win a game.

The Philadelphia Phillies finished off the Colorado Rockies with a 6-1 win on Wednesday night as they swept the Rockies in the three game mid-week series.  The Phillies improved to 31-24 after the three game sweep.  Let’s see if they can keep the momentum going into the weekend.

Chase Utley hit his 17th home run of the season in the game as he finished with three rbi.  Geoff Jenkins didn’t want to be left out either as he had a two run home run and another rbi when he walked with the bases loaded.  Utley and Jenkins provided all the offense that the Phillies would need on the night.

Adam Eaton finally got in the win column as he picked up the win.  Eaton tossed six innings while allowing four hits and only run to get the game.  Ryan Madson, J.C. Romero, and Chad Durbin finished off the Rockies after Eaton left the game.

It took two runs in the eighth inning but the Philadelphia Phillies were able to get by the Houston Astros by the score of 7-5 on Thursday night.  The two teams battled back and forth but in the end it was the Phillies that came out on top.

Ryan Howard went 3-5 in the game including a solo home run and a rbi double.  Howard led the Phillies with two rbi in the game.  Pat Burrell, Chase Utley, Pedro Feliz, Geoff Jenkins, and Carlos Ruiz all had one rbi in the game as well for the Phillies.  The Phillies could have scored a lot more runs then seven as they left 27 runners on base in the game.

Kyle Kendrick got a no decision in the game as he pitched the first five innings of the game.  Kendrick allowed eight hits and five runs in the game.  Ryan Madson, J.C. RomeroChad Durbin, Tom Gordon, and Brad Lidge pitched final four innings of the game and did not allow a run.  Durbin actually picked up the win for the Phillies and is now 1-1 on the season.  Lidge was making his return to Houston where he used to play as he recorded his 12th save of the season.

Good win for the Phillies as they start off the four game series with the Astros on the right foot.

Jamie Moyer tossed seven strong innings on Monday night as the Philadelphia Phillies hammered the Arizona Diamondbacks 11-4.  Moyer who pitched pretty much in the low 80′s in the came kept the Diamondbacks hitters off balanced as he improved his record to 2-2 on the season.

Eric Bruntlett led the Phillies at the plate with three RBI.  Ryan Howard wasn’t too far behind as he finished the game with two RBI.  Geoff Jenkins, Carlos Ruiz, Greg Dobbs, and Moyer all had one RBI in the game as well.  The Phillies could have made the score a lot worse, but they left 31 base runners on base in the game.

With the win, the Phillies are now 19-14 on the season.  They will play the Diamondbacks once again on Tuesday.

The Philadelphia Phillies woke up at the right time against the Houston Astros as the Phillies scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the Astros 4-3.  A three run home run by Pat Burrell and then an RBI double by Pedro Feliz won the game for the Phillies.

The Phillies were more less dead the entire game up until Jose Valverde came in to the game and the Phillies some how woke up.  Chris Snelling hit a leadoff homer and Chase Utley was hit by a pitch. Ryan Howard then struck out, and Burrell tied the score at 3 with a two-run homer to right.

After the Burrel home run, Geoff Jenkins struck out but made it to first base after the ball got away from Brad Ausmus.  That is when Feliz roped a double to the left field corner that scored Jenkins from first base.

Rudy Seanez picked up the win for the Phillies.  Starting pitcher Adam Eaton had pitched seven innings and allowed three earned runs and seven hits.

The Phillies did have some trouble in the first inning as Cole Hamels stuggled, but he quickly adjusted and pitched a pretty good game.  Hamels gave up five hits and three walks in seven innings of action.

Brad Lidge came into the game in the 9th inning and picked up the save even though he did let one run in.
