The Philadelphia Phillies were shut out by the Washington Nationals on Monday night by the score of 4-0.  The Phillies only had seven hits in the game and left 20 runners on base.  They just couldn’t come up with the big hit that they needed to in the game to get a nice rally going.

Bretty Myer fell to 2-5 on the season as he took the loss for the Phillies.  Myers only tossed six innings while giving up eight hits and three runs.  Myers now has a 5.76 era on the season and really needs to turn things around and pitch better.

Ryan Madson pitched the final two innings of the game and gave up two hits and one run.

Shane Victorino, Chase Utley, and Geoff Genkins all had two hits in the game.  They just didn’t get that big hit to really get a rally going in the game.

Tough game for the Phillies, but I expect them to come out on Tuesday and play a lot better.  Phillies Blog
