The Philadelphia Phillies didn’t score until the 7th inning when the scored three runs, but that was enough to beat the New York Mets on Tuesday afternoon.  The Phillies did add on a couple more insurance runs in the 8th inning as well.

Behind 2-0 going into the 7th inning, Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino scored on a throwing error by Carlos Delgado.  Jason Werth then singled to right field and scored Chase Utley to give the Phillies the lead.

In the 8th inning, Rollins singled and scored Carlos Ruiz to give the Phillies a 4-2 lead.  Utley then delivered a RBI double that scored Rollins to make the score 5-2.

Tom Gordon closed out the ballgame in the 9th inning to pick up his first save of the season.  Jamie Moyer pitched six innings of four hit ball to pick up his first win of the season.

Rollins did leave the game in the bottom of the 8th inning with a sprained ankle so we will have to keep an eye on that injury and see if it causes him to miss any time.
