The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Cincinnati Reds by the score of 5-0 on Thursday afternoon as they beat the Reds three out of four games in their series. Good series for the Phillies as they did exactly what they were hoping to. Any time you can get a series win, you did a good job.
Cole Hamels pitched all nine innings for the Phillies and only allowed three hits. Hamels struck out four batters and walked three while improving his record to 6-4 on the season. Great outing for Hamels as it saved the Phillies from having to use the bullpen. Anytime you can get your bullpen some rest that is a good thing.
Geoff Jenkins went deep for a solo home run in the sixth inning for the one long ball for the Phils. Shane Victorino had a rbi single in the fith inning and then Ryan Howard had a rbi single in the seventh inning. The Phillies also scored two unearned runs in the game.
The Phillies now have a big weekend series with the Atlanta Braves. The Braves and the Phillies also play good games so it should be an exciting weekend of baseball.
