Jamie Moyer was cruising right along until the seventh inning when Emil Brown hit a three run home off of him and knocked him out of the game. Moyer pitched 6 2/3 innings and only allowed five hits but those three runs were enough to have Moyer and the Phillies lose to the Oakland Athletics 5-2.
J.C. Romero gave up a two run home run in the eighth inning to Jack Cust and the pretty much was the nail in the coffin for the Phillies as they weren’t swinging the bats well enough to come back in the final inning of the game.
Pat Burrell hit his 19th home run of the season in the fourth inning. Burrell finished the game with only that one rbi. Ryan Howard had a rbi single in the eighth inning that scored Shane Victorino but that would be as close as the Phillies would get. The offense was only able to record six hits in the game and they struckout nine times.
I expect the Phillies bats to wake up on Wednesday when they battle the Phillies once again. I really expect them to even up the series at 1-1. What do you think Phillies fans?
