Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jamie Moyer was on top of his game Thursday night as he flirted with a no hitter into the sixth inning.  Moyer ended up giving two hits as he pitched eight inning and the Phillies defeated the Florida Marlins 3-0.

Moyer was dominating the Marlins batters all night long.  He walked one batter and struckout three others in his eight innings of action.  With the victory Thursday night, Moyer improved his season record to 7-3.

Brad Lidge came in and pitched the ninth inning and recorded his 18th save of the season.  Lidge did give up one hit in the ninth but then closed the door on the Marlins.

Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino both scored in the sixth inning on a passed ball and then a wild throw by the Marlins catcher.  The Marlins pretty much gave those two runs to the Phillies they way they were throwing the ball around on the field.  Jayson Werth had a rbi single to center that scored Chase Utley in the eighth inning to score the Phillies third and final run of the game.

With the victory, the Phillies were able to avoid being swept by the Marlins.  Hopefully the win will give them some confidence heading into their matchup with the St. Louis Cardinals this weekend.
