Domonick Brown showed why he is the organizations top prospect today in Spring Training play as he belted two home runs and knocked in four in leading the Fightins to a 6 to 1 win over Detroit.  Brown took a Justin Verlander pitch completely out of the park over the right field wall to give the Phillies an early lead, he later poked a Phil Coke pitch over the right center field fence!

Cole Hamels pitched five strong innings to earn the win, Antonio Bastardo and Ryan Madson had impressive innings in relief.  Ryan Howard also homered in the contest, also off of Tiger starter Verlander.

Good win today, chilly day in Florida but another sellout crowd at Brighthouse Field in Clearwater didn’t seem to mind!Yankees on tap for tommorow.

Arrived in Clearwater yesterday, staying two weeks and taking in alot of baseball!  For a phanatic like me this is heaven!

Today went to Carpenter Complex and took in some Minor League B Games.  B games are free and the players intermingle with the fans just like you were at a high school game, pretty cool.  Saw Kyle Drabek pitch for the Jays Triple A club.  He is indeed special and it is easy to see why the Fightins were hesitant to swap him.  Toronto has a true ace of the future in this young man, nasty hook, above average heater and ball moves crazy!  Gonna be a big winner in the show.

Scott Mathieson threw extremely well for the Phillies Triple A club in this one, he will be in Philly before the summer is out, ball really pops, sawed off a couple of bats and most hitters struggled catching up with him at all!

Jamie Moyer got hit around in the morning B game at Englebrecht, the Jays complex.  He faced many big league hitters though but unless he shows progress may end up in the pen.

Rumor floating today of a mega deal……superman for batman!  Pujols for Howard………don’t think it has any chance whatsoever though.

Going to a big leaugue training game tommorrow, Phillies vs Yanks.    If you have never done spring training before and your are a baseball fan you should do this at least once.   Sweet!
