The Philadelphia Phillies now know what it is like to be limited to only a couple of hits as the A’s limited them to three hits and shut out them out 5-0.  With the three hit, 5-0 shut out, the A’s took two of three games against the Phillies.  It was about the exact opposite of the game the two teams played on Wednesday night.

Shane Victorino had two hits for the Phillies and Pat Burrell had a triple in the ninth inning but that was all the offense for the Phillies against Rich Harden and Alan Embree.

Adam Eaton took the loss after throwing seven innings and giving up six hits and three runs.  Eaton is now a dissapointing 2-6 on the season.  Tom Gordon pitched one inning and gave up another two rns in the eighth inning.  That pretty much put the game out of reach for the Phillies.

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Kyle Kendrick pitched eight innings and the Phillies shut out the Oakland Athletics 4-0 on Wednesday night.  Kendrick earned his seventh win of the season as he only gave up four hits and pretty much dominated the A’s lineup all night long.

J.C. Romero tossed the ninth inning for the Phillies and didn’t have too much trouble.  Romero did walk one batter but he also struck out one batter.

Chris Coste went 2-3 and had two rbi in the game to the Phillies at the plate.  Pat Burrell and Pedro Feliz both contributed with two rbi of their own in the game.

The Phillies are now 43-36 on the season and will try to win the series against the A’s with a victory on Thursday afternoon.  Adam Eaton will take the mound for the Phillies.

Jamie Moyer was cruising right along until the seventh inning when Emil Brown hit a three run home off of him and knocked him out of the game.  Moyer pitched 6 2/3 innings and only allowed five hits but those three runs were enough to have Moyer and the Phillies lose to the Oakland Athletics 5-2.

J.C. Romero gave up a two run home run in the eighth inning to Jack Cust and the pretty much was the nail in the coffin for the Phillies as they weren’t swinging the bats well enough to come back in the final inning of the game.

Pat Burrell hit his 19th home run of the season in the fourth inning.  Burrell finished the game with only that one rbi.  Ryan Howard had a rbi single in the eighth inning that scored Shane Victorino but that would be as close as the Phillies would get.  The offense was only able to record six hits in the game and they struckout nine times.

I expect the Phillies bats to wake up on Wednesday when they battle the Phillies once again.  I really expect them to even up the series at 1-1.  What do you think Phillies fans?

The Philadelphia Phillies lost for the second straight game to the Boston Red Sox.  On Wednesday it was by the score of 7-4.  With the loss on Wednesday, the Phillies dropped two out of three games against the Red Sox in their much anticipated show down.

Phillies starting pitcher Kyle Kendrick only lasted three innings as he gave up six early runs in the game.  Kendrick had troubles in the first and third innings as he gave up back to back homers in the first inning and then a two run single in the third inning.  Kendrick took the loss and is now 6-3.

Clay Condrey pitched two innings and gave up four hits and one run.  After that however the Phillies bullpen locked down and held the Red Sox scoreless the final four innings of the game.  Chad Durbin, Rudy Seanez, J.C. Romero, and Brad Lidge all pitched one inning and all did a good job.

The Phillies scored in the first inning on a Ryan Howard RBI but then didn’t score again until the fifth inning when Jayson Werth grounded into a fielders choice to score another run.  Pedro Feliz did have a two run single in the seventh inning as well for the Phillies but it was enough.

So how do you think the Phillies will respond when they play the Los Angeles Angels on Friday in another interleague matchup?  If you ask me, they are going to have their hands full with another good American League team once again.   But what do I know?  I’m just a Phillies Blogger!

The Philadelphia Phillies were shut out by the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night by the score of 3-0.  The Phillies struggled at the plate with ten strikeouts as they were just never able to get a good rally going and score any runs off of Jon Lester and the two other Red Sox pitchers.

Jamie Moyer pitched the first five innings of the game.  Moyer gave up four hits and two runs while taking the loss for the Phillies.  Five walks and a home run really hurt Moyer in the game.

Ryan Madson threw the next two innings in the game and gave up two hits and one run.  Rudy Seanez and Clay Condrey were finally able to come in and pitch the eighth and ninth innings without giving up a run.

The Phillies are going to have to swing the bat better on Wednesday if they want any shot to beat this Red Sox team.  Right now I really don’t know if they will be able to.

Ryan Howard blasted two home runs as the Philadelphia Phillies kicked off a three game series with the Boston Red Sox with a 8-2 victory on Monday night.  Howard had the four rbi’s in the game as he went 3-5.

Howard wasn’t the only Phillies player to go deep however.  Jimmy Rollins hit a first inning home run off of Red Sox starter Bartolo Colon to get the Phillies scoring started.  Rollins finished the game with three total rbi while Chase Utley also chipped in with one.

Cole Hamels tossed seven innings and gave up seven hits and two runs to pick up the victory.  Hamels is now 7-4 on the season with a 3.23 era.  Hamels received a standing ovation when he was taken out in the top of the eighth inning.  Chad Durbin then came into the game and pitched the final two innings while only giving up one run.

Good job by the Phillies as now the pressure is on the Red Sox to get a win on Tuesday.

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jamie Moyer was on top of his game Thursday night as he flirted with a no hitter into the sixth inning.  Moyer ended up giving two hits as he pitched eight inning and the Phillies defeated the Florida Marlins 3-0.

Moyer was dominating the Marlins batters all night long.  He walked one batter and struckout three others in his eight innings of action.  With the victory Thursday night, Moyer improved his season record to 7-3.

Brad Lidge came in and pitched the ninth inning and recorded his 18th save of the season.  Lidge did give up one hit in the ninth but then closed the door on the Marlins.

Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino both scored in the sixth inning on a passed ball and then a wild throw by the Marlins catcher.  The Marlins pretty much gave those two runs to the Phillies they way they were throwing the ball around on the field.  Jayson Werth had a rbi single to center that scored Chase Utley in the eighth inning to score the Phillies third and final run of the game.

With the victory, the Phillies were able to avoid being swept by the Marlins.  Hopefully the win will give them some confidence heading into their matchup with the St. Louis Cardinals this weekend.

It was a pitchers duel between Cole Hamels and Andrew Miller on Wednesday night and unfortunately, the Phillies were on the losing end as they lost to the Florida Marlins by the score of 6-2.  Well I should say it was a pitching duel until the ninth inning lol.

Starting pitcher Hamels tossed eight innings for the Phillies.  He gave up three hits and two runs in the game and earned a much better decision then the no decision that he got.  Any time a starting pitcher throws eight innings and only gives up three runs, he should have got the win.  It’s too bad that the offense had so much trouble until the ninth inning.

In the ninth inning however, the Phillies were able to come back and score one run to tie the game.  Chase Utley tied the game with a rbi fielders choice as he beat out what would have been a game ending double play.  Utley finished the game with two rbi for the Phillies.  Utley singled in the seventh inning to score Shane Victorino for his first rbi.  Ryan Howard and Pat Burrell were both hitless as they went 0-3 on the night.

With the game tied at 2-2 in the ninth inning, the Marlins came back to score four times in the inning as Dan Uggla hit a walk off grand slam off of Tom Gordon who took the loss.  Gordon has to feel very bad as all four runs were charged to him and he just didn’t get the job done.
